The Milligan College Lady Buffaloes were victorious over Bluefield in three games (30-26, 30-21, 30-26) Tuesday night at Bluefield to overcome an eight game losing streak.
Leading the Buffaloes in scoring was sophomore Tara Earhart with 17 kills, three blocks and eight aces in an all-around great performance. Freshman setter Jamie Sly had 43 assists for the Buffaloes.
“The win tonight was a big boost in our morale, and it really made us realize what kind of team we really are,” said freshman Alison Slagle. “Lately, we have been in a losing streak so coming out with a strong win tonight against Bluefield is a good starting point for the next half of our conference games. It will also put us at a good standing for the AAC tournament in November.”
The victory improves the Buffs record to 8-15 overall and 5-7 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Milligan travels to Montreat College (N.C.) tonight for another AAC match up.
