The Milligan College Lady Buffs volleyball team had a disappointing weekend, winning only one game in a three game stretch against Appalachian Athletic Conference rivals Covenant College (1-3), Bryan College (1-3)  and Tennessee Wesleyan College (3-0).

On Friday night, Milligan was defeated by Covenant in four games with scores of 21-30, 30-25, 19-30 and 28-30. The Lady Buffs were led by freshman Jamie Sly with a total of 49 assists. Sophomore Tara Earhart also aided the Lady Buffs with 23 kills and 28 digs. Freshmen Amanda Hyder and Ashley Lokken both contributed 11 kills while freshman Emily Rigney and sophomore Beth Snapp each added 19 digs.

On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Buffs earned a split of two AAC conference matches. In the first match, Milligan saw a repeat of the previous night’s game, falling to Bryan College in four games (22-30, 30-21, 19-30, 28-30.)  Sly added 45 more assists while Earhardt spearheaded the Buffs offense with 18 kills, 15 digs, and two aces.

Milligan finally captured a win when they defeated Tennessee Wesleyan in three games (30-23, 30-21, 30-26.)  Earhardt once again led the Buffs with 16 digs in the match.  Hyder and freshman Alyssa Graber both had two aces as well.  Sophomore Alison Langrel led the Buffs with 14 kills.

The Lady Buff’s record now stands at 10-20 for the season and 7-13 in the conference.
