Several Milligan students are now reaching out to the Tri-Cities community through crafts with the start of Wrapped in Love, a new club where students knit and crochet blankets, caps and other items to donate them to the Johnson City Medical Center.

“We had one meeting on campus and we just got together and a couple people knitted, a few of us crocheted,” said sophomore Katie McNabb who started the club. “Once we get more things (made) to take to the hospital, we’ll take them over there.

McNabb began the club earlier this semester because of her avid interest in knitting and crocheting, an interest she discovered many other Milligan students shared.

“I learned how to crochet back in December when my roommate taught me,” said McNabb. “I knew a lot of girls knit and crochet – guys too actually – and so I thought it would be a fun way to get together and to do something for the community to make articles for babies and adults to use for the hospitals and other organizations in the city.”

McNabb has been in contact with the Medical Center and “the ladies at the volunteer services were really excited about what we were doing.”

Any student can join, even those who do not know how to knit or crochet.

“Come anyway if you are interested because somebody can teach you,” McNabb said.
