The baseball team completed a three-game weekend against Brevard College where they split a doubleheader on Saturday and lost Sunday. The Buffs are now 4-7 for the season and 1-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

The Buffaloes pulled out a close game in the first half of their doubleheader on Saturday, winning 6-5. Sophomore Will Little drove in junior Nathan Meade in the top of the sixth to tie the game, and junior Dustin Price hit the game-winning homerun to start off the seventh inning.

Things went downhill from there for the Buffs as they lost 2-8 in the second game. Milligan left 11 runners on base.

“We’re struggling right now,” said senior Chris Shockley. “We are walking too many (batters), and we can’t seem to bring runners in.”

On Sunday, things were not much better for the Buffs. Milligan was only able to score one run, which came from a walk with bases loaded in the fifth. Brevard also struggled with leaving runners on base, but were able to capitalize on errors made in the field, winning 1-4.

“Right now, we’re in the middle of a long stretch of away games. It will be nice to finally get back home with our fans,” head coach Danny Clark said.

The Buffs’ next game is this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Virginia Intermont College. Their next home game will be March 13 against UVA Wise.
