Cassie Lomison, a sophomore at Milligan College, took the next step in her tennis career last week as she competed in the Golf Etc. & Tennis Championships at the East Tennessee State University Mini-Dome.
“The tournament was good competition and helped me get prepared for our first match of the season,” said Lomison.
Lomison won her first two matches on Monday and Tuesday 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-0 respectively. However, in the final match on Friday she was defeated 4-6, 1-6.
The tournament was open to college participants, as well as high school seniors looking to play at a higher level.
“I expected her to do very well in the tournament. Every time she competes, she competes at a high level,” said Head Coach Marvin Glover.
Cassie’s name is recognized by the Milligan community for her contributions to the women’s tennis team last season during her freshman year. Lomison currently holds the number one singles position on the women’s team.
