More opportunities for convocation and chapel make up will be offered this semester. Last semester, students had two opportunities to make up a missed Tuesday or Thursday session, but this semester students may attend up to four makeup sessions.

Approximately 320 students received a convo or chapel credit by volunteering in the community for Martin Luther King Jr. Day last Wednesday. One more non-class night credit is available by attending an upcoming Fugit lecture on Feb. 18.

The Fugit lecture is part of a series sponsored by Gerald and Bette Fugit. Two lectures will be presented during convocation on Feb. 17 and chapel on Feb. 19.

“Gerald and Bette Fugit are long-time friends of Milligan College and have a deep interest in the Restoration heritage,” said President Don Jeanes. “Through their generosity and desire to promote the ideals of the Restoration movement, they have funded a series of lectures.”

Marshall Leggett, chancellor and former president of Milligan, will speak on the Stone-Campbell heritage and its value for the future.

The final way students can receive convo or chapel credit is by attending the two class nights held for each class.

Freshmen class nights are set for Feb. 8 and March 21. Bert Allen and Leslie Glover are in charge of the freshmen nights. The Feb. 8 program includes a viewing of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, a 1967 movie about the issue of a biracial marriage.

For seniors, class nights will be held Feb. 29 and April 11. Beth Anderson is making plans for the seniors to meet at Cow and Coffee in Johnson City.

Plans are still being made for sophomores, whose class nights are on Feb. 15 and March 28 and juniors, whose class nights are on Feb. 22 and April 4.
