Women’s tennis:
The women’s tennis team failed to capture a win during their first match of the season against Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Tenn on Monday. The only match that went in the Lady Buffs’ favor was the no. three doubles team of junior Jessica Conn and freshman Krissi Denton, who overpowered VI 8-6. Milligan was not able to pick up any other wins as they lost with a final score of 1-8.The Lady Buffs record stands at 0-1. Their next match is against Mars Hill College at Liberty Bell in Johnson City on March 16 at 2:30 p.m.
Baseball: The baseball team posted two wins in a double header last weekend against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Tenn. The games had final scores of 6-1 and 10-4 respectively.
Milligan came out fast in the beginning of both games. In the second game, the Buffs scored three runs in the first inning alone.
In the first game, senior Todd Speas pitched six innings and allowed only one run. Freshman Stephen Jarrett pitched three innings in the second game and allowed only one run as well.
Milligan is scheduled to play at Bryan College this weekend. The wins against VI put their record at 6-7 for the season and 3-2 in the AAC.
