The Milligan College track teams continued their outstanding season last weekend
at the indoor Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C.
The men started out strong when the distance medley relay team beat out
Appalachian State and Furman with a final time of 10:30. The women’s team also
performed well in the distance medley relay, finishing in fourth place.
On Saturday, individual runners were given the chance to improve on their
national qualifying marks from the Niswonger Foundation Invitational earlier
this month. Freshman Sean Bowman and sophomore Chris Wright placed fifth and
seventh respectively in the men’s 3,000-meter run with times of 8:59.00 and
8:59.60. Both maintained their national qualifying marks.
Sophomore Marta Zimon tied for third in the women’s mile run with a time of
5:20.50, which qualified her for the national competition in this event.
Sophomore Megan Lease also qualified for the tournament in the women’s
3,000-meter run with a final time of 10:53.00.
The Buffs will compete again at Appalachian State on Feb. 12.
