The Lady Buffs faced off in a double header against Roane State on Friday where Milligan won both games 6-1 and 9-0.

The team includes six freshman players, four of which started the games. Senior leftfielder Ellen Stoots felt that the newcomers pulled more than their own weight in the games.

“Our freshmen stepped up to the challenge,” Stoots said. “I was impressed with their effort.”

In the first game, junior shortstop Danielle Gilley and first baseman Brooke Davis led the team with two hits each.  Junior Brandy Waddle pitched seven innings and was credited with the win.

In the second game, Stoots hit in two runs in a key fourth inning, two out situation. Senior Shelby Banion pitched four scoreless innings for the win.

The Lady Buffs’ will play in the Milligan Fall Classic Friday and Saturday at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City.
