With money from the Jesse Ball DuPont Fund, Milligan was able to expand the Admissions and Advancement offices this fall by opening an office known as the Call Center.

Located in the Student Union Building’s lower level, the Center employs 12 student workers who receive federal minimum wage to telephone students who are thinking of attending Milligan College.

Junior Naomi Richards works for the call center and said that as part of her job, she often calls high school seniors who are “serious about their college search.”

The Call Center’s purpose is two-fold, however, because the student employees also contact alumni.

“Students call Milligan alumni and friends of the college to thank them for their support of the college, to invite them to college events, and to do fundraising,” Marketing Assistant and Call Center Manager Autumn Hamby said.

Hamby also said the Call Center is “a valuable tool in enrollment building and fund development.”

In addition to the pay, student workers receive experience with communication skills and marketing experience that they will be able to add to their resumes.
