Class nights to continue, but with changes

Class nights, the option for making up convocations and/or chapels that was instituted this year, will see some changes next year.

The make-up nights will again be offered but “not in the same format,” according to Danielle Booth, director of student life who played a key role in the planning and scheduling of class nights.

Booth said the nights were difficult to plan due to the number of unknowns, including how many people would show up and what the nature of the group would be like.

Campus minister Nathan Flora, who was the other main person in charge of setting up the nights, said internal planning and structure problems were some of the major troubles he and Booth encountered with class nights.

Booth said the plans for next year are still being formulated and so far nothing has been finalized.

The $2 million Lily Grant that Milligan received this school year sponsored the events. Money from the grant kept the costs of class nights to a minimum.

“For the most part (class nights) have been inexpensive,” said Flora.

Two of the nights for the semester went exceptionally well, according to Booth. She said the senior night in SUB 7 on April 18 was well prepared, and Joe Wise “did a nice job” at the junior night in February 22. Wise spoke about servant leadership.
