After raising $2,100 in the faculty auction this spring, many juniors and seniors are curious to know why tickets to this year’s Junior/Senior Banquet tickets are $15 each.
“Tickets were $12 last year,” said junior class representative Kaitlyn Anderson, who has been working on the committee planning this year’s event.
Juniors who have been active in the planning include Anderson, Andrew Hopper, Laura Jones, Shane Oakleaf and Warren McCrickard. Other subcommittees have been designated for specific purposes, such as decorations.
Anderson said they began brainstorming for this before Christmas break, and confirmed the location at the Johnson City Country Club at the beginning of this semester.
“Yes, we made a lot of money at the faculty auction, but we haven’t collected all of it,” said Anderson. “When it was time to set the ticket prices, we hadn’t received about one third of it, and we can’t just assume the money will come in.”
The expenses include a meal, T-shirts, decorations, a disc jockey, senior books for graduating seniors and pictures. According to Anderson, the most expensive factor is the meal.
