Explanation of Welcome Week Activities

Matriculation (new students & parents/families)
Matriculation is a tradition at Milligan where new students officially “sign-in” to the records of the college. This program is mandatory for all new students of the college. We invite all families of incoming students to attend this formal ceremony in which students join the Milligan community. Sunday attire is requested.
Dessert Reception (new students & parents/families)
The Parent Association invites new students and parents to meet and greet faculty and staff on the commons while enjoying desserts served by the student government and peer mentors.
New Student Banquet  (new students)
SGA hosts a banquet for all new students and their peer mentors and mentors to attend. This is a time for SGA to welcome the students, introduce their theme for the school year, and to charge the incoming class with making the most of their Milligan experience.

Vespers (all students)
The first vespers service of the year held in Lower Seeger. This is a student-led worship service with music, drama, etc. that is held every Sunday at 8:30pm.

2011 Buff Nation Migration at Doe River Gorge (new students)
This is an afternoon event for new students held out at Doe River Gorge (which is a huge high adventure camp out in Hampton, TN and if you weren't sure…it's pretty awesome). The afternoon will be filled with activities like mountain biking, frisbee golf, train rides, the zip line, the blob, other lake activities and games, unimog rides (you have to come to find out). You shouldn't need any more convincing at this point. Be in.

Back to School Splash (all students)
This will be held for all students. We've rented out Wetlands Water Park in Jonesborough, TN. You'll enjoy an evening of swimming, tubing, water sliding, or riding the lazy river. Don't forget to enjoy a free ice cream sundae and to get in a dance or two as DJ Craig spices up the night and rocks the mic.
The Game (new students)
This event precedes the drive-in and serves as a way to orient the new students to the campus. It's a massive scavenger hunt leading the teams all over campus with clues to various locations. At each location the teams must complete a silly task in order to receive their next clue. Their final location will grant them access to the Drive-In movie.
The Drive-In (all students)
You can't miss this age-old Milligan tradition! The drive-in movie, located at the Stateline Drive-In in Elizabethton, TN, is for everyone.
Sub 7 Coffeehouse (all students)
The first concert of the year held in Sub 7. Oreo shakes, coffee, chai tea, and more! You can't pass up good coffee, good music, and good people!
Buffalo Annual Portraits (all students)
Be a part of Milligan history and have your portrait taken for the Buffalo yearbook (and maybe get some free food). Free sitting, no fee (optional packages available for purchase). Students who get their photo taken will be entered in a drawing for a $15 gift card at a local restaurant.
