Post Office Open Saturday
The Post Office will be open Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., to allow students to rent a post office box.

Welcome Week 2008

Welcome to (and in some cases welcome back to) Milligan College! We're so thrilled that each of you are here and we look forward to the exciting and fun-filled year ahead. And what better way to start the year than with a killer welcome week line-up? We have several events to help us celebrate this joyous occasion that is the start of another school year. In the words of Kevin McAllister in Home Alone, “This is it. Don't get scared now.”

And the nominees for dynamite welcome week activities are…

Dessert Reception
New students and parents have the opportunity to meet and greet faculty and staff on the commons while enjoying desserts served by the student government and peer mentors.

Sunday Smorgasbord
Organized afternoon activities (i.e. ultimate frisbee, basketball, softball, cards, etc.) for new students to take part in on-campus.

New Student Banquet
SGA hosts a banquet in our newly renovated cafeteria for all new students and their peer mentors and mentors to attend. This is a time for SGA to welcome the students, introduce their theme for the school year, and to charge the incoming class with making the most of their Milligan experience.

Vespers

The first vespers service of the year held in Lower Seeger. This is a student-led worship service with music, drama, etc. that is held every Sunday at 9pm.

New! Kiss Your Momma Goodbye and Learn to Wash Your Own Socks, It's the Doe River Gorge August Migration of the 2008 Buffalo Nation

This is an all-day event for new students held out at Doe River Gorge (which is a huge high adventure camp out in Hampton, TN and if you weren't sure…it's pretty awesome). The day will be filled with activities like mountain biking, frisbee golf, train rides, the zip line, the blob, other lake activities and games, unimog rides (you have to come to find out). The day will include both lunch and dinner and will conclude with a worship service and bon fire. You shouldn't need any more convincing at this point. Be in.

Back to School Splash

This will be held for all students. We've rented out Wetlands Water Park in Jonesborough, TN. You'll enjoy an evening of swimming, tubing, water sliding, or riding the lazy river. Don't forget to enjoy a free ice cream sundae and to get in a dance or two as DJ Craig spices up the night and rocks the mic.

The Game

This event precedes the drive-in and serves as a way to orient the new students to the campus. It's a massive scavenger hunt leading the teams all over campus with clues to various locations. At each location the teams must complete a silly task in order to receive their next clue. Their final location will grant them access to the Drive-In movie.

The Drive-In

You can't miss this age-old Milligan tradition! The drive-in movie, located at the State-Line theatre in Elizabethton, TN, is for everyone.

Welcome Back Fiesta
Classes have begun! Let's celebrate with a picnic on the front lawn of Derthick. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. We cater a Mexican menu and hire an authentic mariachi band. They'll be games and prizes! So come on out and celebrate with us. Viva la buffaloes!

Sub 7 Coffeehouse
The first concert of the year held in Sub 7. This year an artist by the name of Leslie Dudney and her band will be performing. Oreo shakes, coffee, chai tea, and more! You can't pass up good coffee, good music, and good people!
