  • RiseAbove Summer Research Scholarship

    The purpose of this competitive summer grant is to encourage more students and faculty to engage in 499 mentored research during the summer. Any Milligan College undergraduate who plans to enroll in 499A, B, or C in order to work on a mentored research project during the months of May, June, July or August is eligible to apply.

    Appalachian College Association Grants

    The ACA offers grants to support student scholarship. The STEM Scholar Travel Grants and the Colonel Lee B. Ledford Scholarship both support student research activities.

    HEAL Appalachia Community Grants Program

    The program provides grants to community organizations to support new efforts and expand existing efforts to reduce childhood obesity.  These funds are awarded through a region-wide competitive process.  We welcome applications from community organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, employers, and health care professionals located in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

    America's Historical and Cultural Organizations

    Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, America’s Historical and Cultural Organizations (AHCO) grants provide support for museums, libraries, historic places, and other organizations that produce public programs in the humanities.

    National Science Foundation

    The National Science Foundation funds research and education in most fields of science and engineering. It does this through grants, and cooperative agreements to more than 2,000 colleges, universities, K-12 school systems, businesses, informal science organizations and other research organizations throughout the United States.

    National Education Association

    The National Education Association offers multiple grants to public school educators throughout the nation, as well as information on other available grants. The maximum award varies.

    National Education Association Foundation

    The National Education Association Foundation is a public charity supported by contributions from educators' dues, corporate sponsors, and others. We support student success by helping public school educators work with key partners to build strong systems of shared responsibility.

    National Endowment for the Arts

    The National Endowment for the Arts was established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. There are many types of grants including some to study the value and impact of arts and art education.

  • American Academy of Religion

    To fulfill its commitment to advance research in religion, the AAR each year grants awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 each to support projects proposed by AAR members and selected by the Academy's Research Grants Review Committee. AAR grants are for both individual and collaborative research.

    American Council of Learned Societies

    ACLS offers fellowships and grants in more than a dozen programs for research in the humanities and related social sciences at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels. In 2010, awards of over $15 million were made to more than 380 scholars, in the humanities and related social sciences, which include but are not limited to American studies; anthropology; archaeology; art and architectural history; classics; economics; film; geography; history; languages and literatures; legal studies; linguistics; musicology; philosophy; political science; psychology; religious studies; rhetoric, communication, and media studies; science, technology, and medicine studies; sociology; and theater, dance, and performance studies.

    Association of Theological Schools

    Through its faculty grant programs, ATS seeks to (1) develop theological research that serves the needs of theological schools, communities of faith, and the wider society and (2) enhance faculty skill and capacity as theological researchers and scholars. Applicants to these programs must be full-time faculty members at ATS accredited and candidate member schools. 

    Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest

    The Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest is an annual competition designed to challenge college students to analyze the urgent ethical issues confronting them in today's complex world. Students are encouraged to write thought-provoking personal essays that raise questions, single out issues and are rational arguments for ethical action. Full-time undergraduate juniors and seniors at accredited four-year colleges and universities in the US are welcome to enter the Essay Contest

    Fund for Theological Education

    From fellowships for prospective and current seminary students to recruitment initiatives for congregations, FTE offers many different kind of resources for many different needs. Its programs include Undergraduates Exploring Ministry; Support for Seminary Students; African-American Ph.D./Th.D. Scholars; Racial/Ethnic Ph.D./Th.D. Scholars; Calling Congregations; Programs for High School Youth; Programs for Colleges and Universities; and New Pastor Support.

    Louisville Institute

    The Louisville Institute offers eight grant programs. Each gives preference to proposals that creatively bring together the wisdom of pastors and academics on behalf of American Christians and their churches. Applicants may apply to only one program during a given grant year.

  • IRA Esther Zolt Academic Research Grant

    This grant, established in memory of Esther Zolt, a life-long elementary classroom teacher, may be given annually for a research study on the classroom implementation of In2Books or an e-Pals project and the Common Core State Standards that inspires others to improve teaching and learning in innovative ways. This grant is for US $2,500 (sponsored by Nina Zolt and Miles Gilburne.)

    Innovation and Impact Grants

    PDK Educational Foundation will support the development, implementation, and sharing of new teaching strategies aligned with rigorous college and career standards and associated student assessments. These teaching strategies will be based on innovative approaches designed to have the greatest impact on student learning. Applications may vary significantly; the focus of the grant reviewers will be whether the proposed project is innovative and whether it is likely to improve student learning.

    Harper Fund Award

    SAMLA and the Harper Fund committee are eager to grant travel funds to graduate students who possess a keen interest in the humanities in order to present at the annual SAMLA conference. Please note that all applicants must have an accepted presentation for the respective conference to be considered for this honorarium.

  • SNRS Research Grant Award

    The purpose of the SNRS Research Grant Award is to support and promote new investigators in initiating or building a program of research, which advances nursing science and practice. Funds are available for quantitative and qualitative research on any topic relevant to the nursing profession. This award will fund research that is not being done for course credit. The SNRS Research Grant is for $7500.

    Psi Chi Undergraduate Research Grants

    Psi Chi offers a variety of awards and grants to undergraduate members. We encourage you to apply for multiple grants and awards throughout your college career because you will learn from the process. Each time you complete an application, you will gain experience and insight.

    The Venture Fund is a resource for AAPT members, created to promote the development and marketing of innovative teaching products and services for physics and other sciences. Up to $25,000
