That’s what Milligan has been for me – a
place where I have discovered pieces of me, possibilities that I never
knew existed, and I have been able to develop those possibilities into
potential future careers/life paths.
-
Two worthy purposes for the college:
Enabling each student to become better as individuals, and the higher
cause of serving others through change that will improve the overall human
condition.
-
Milligan allows one to learn more about
themselves, about the world, about God’s will for one’s life, and how best
each can use himself to better the world.
-
Milligan College is where I discovered
myself. I came to this college knowing no one, with lots of expectations,
and reservations. But all of my walls were broken down by loving staff and
students. I found a program and major I love and friends I will have the
rest of my life. My spiritual life has transformed into a personal
relationship between me and God since I’ve been here.
-
I’m a Humanities student, and I chose that
program because of the options and possibilities it afforded. I also chose
Milligan because of the possibilities it would afford me as I discover
more fully who God is, how the world is, and who I am…I’m not just being
prepared for a career, or for the next chronological step, but I’m opening
up a world of options, of possibilities in my life. Milligan is hard work,
but it’s work that comes with joy and purpose.
-
At Milligan, we were inspired to be
better people by learning about our history, our faith, and our world. But
our professors didn’t stop there. They asked what we were going to do
about what we learned and challenged us not just to unleash our personal
abilities or take the more difficult road, but to actually make a
difference by changing the world for the better. In fact, we had a
personal responsibility to do so.
-
So commonly at the age of 17 or 18, young
adults in our generation struggle to know who they are or more importantly
who God wants them to be. I know that after my Milligan experience I can
provide a thoughtful and God-centered response to both of those questions
– and both were questions I couldn’t have answered before my years at
Milligan.
-
Milligan is constantly talking about
servant leadership. I have heard that concept reinforced in many areas
including vespers, Bible study, class, softball…I have learned from being
here that my life needs to reflect Christ – a prime example of a servant.
-
As an alumnus, Milligan really did prepare
me to change the world. Maybe not on a large scale level, but in the
little ways every day...Even through sharing one’s knowledge of history
and literature. I am in the science field and it is amazing how few people
have a bigger picture of the world around them.
-
Milligan’s professors cared enough about
me to know who I was. They knew my strengths and my weaknesses, and
because they knew me and I knew they cared about me, I accepted their
directions and challenges. With the education I had at Milligan, I felt
confident that I could achieve the goals I set for myself and even some of
the challenges that they set before me.
-
A liberal arts education opens a student’s
eyes to many possibilities they would not have been aware of before
attending.
-
Milligan shows you that there is more to
the world than what we grew up in. They challenge you to get out there and
serve in what are endless possibilities in the world to share about God.
-
Milligan teaches you to leave your comfort
zone and see what you can do there…You also learn to use your mind and
talents in ways never thought of before.
-
My Milligan education prepared me for
life events, spiritual challenges, and professional success I could not
have even imagined as a young college student.
-
Many Christians do not necessarily see how a
vocation outside of traditional ministry can be used to glorify God and
advance His kingdom. One of Milligan’s greatest strengths, as a liberal
arts college, is preparing servant leaders in all fields of study. When
the preconceived notion of what ministry should be is removed, the
possibilities of an expanding church are endless.
-
MC is a place where we prepare to do
something BIG, not just learn one subject area – but we have a higher call
and a bigger purpose.
-
Milligan challenges you to go and do, not
sit and watch. Milligan sees how every vocation is just as important as
the next. Whatever profession you go into, they equip you to bring your
faith with you and change the world with what you have learned during your
time at Milligan College.
-
Attending Milligan changes you in the
most amazing ways. It impacts the way you see your relationships and
challenges your worldviews. It gives you the drive to change the world.
-
Preparing people to change the world…It is
Milligan’s vision for its students and graduates. It is what separates
Milligan graduates from university graduates or even Bible college
graduates. We are servants and ministers in any field or occupation…it
places the focus on training and preparing the individual to do for
others.
-
Christian Education at Milligan was
always about what God wanted and how we fit into His plan for us.
-
Christian education should be primarily
focused on using the knowledge, experience, and growth gained in school to
bring positive change to the world around us – regardless of our specific
calling or career. In whatever field the individual chooses, he or she can
use the skills gained at Milligan to accomplish God’s purposes for the
betterment of the “neighbors” around us – both locally and globally.
-
The concept of servant leadership changes
the world – it has been my main theme of my life taken from Milligan.
-
It's what Milligan is, has been, and should
be about. It’s not about me as the consumer student wanting to make my
life best – it’s about me laying my life down in order to partner with God
to help change the world.
-
Milligan prepared me for a life of
Christian ministry – in the secular field of medicine – and forever
changed the way I view my calling and purpose.
-
Each one of us has the potential to change
the world in some small fashion. We may never cure cancer of anything like
that, but we have the power to change our world, and help make it better
for other people in our world. That is something that many of us seem to
forget in our daily lives.
-
I’m a missionary and I believe that all
Christians, regardless of the job they do, if they do it in service to the
Lord, will change the world.
-
Milligan helped me to understand my mission
in life for going into ministry was to spiritually equip students to
change the world.
-
After attending Milligan College, I
became a stronger Christian, made lifelong friendships, and I’m now a
special education teacher helping children achieve academically on a daily
basis. Milligan prepared me to make a positive change in the lives of
children.
-
If you truly take in Milligan’s goal of
education, you will develop an ability to look at the world through
Christian eyes and see the way Jesus saw us. You will want to change the
world and see each person as an individual and take into account their
experiences in life instead of judging that individual by your
experiences.
-
Milligan doesn’t just exist for the
individual. It grounds that individual in community. And that community
continues to inspire and change who you are and what you’re doing in the
world long after you leave Milligan.
-
Milligan is a place where a whole bunch of
messed up people who love Jesus come together for a brief period of time
and push and challenge each other until they all end up becoming better
equipped to be Christ’s disciples. Then they leave and go out into the
world and carry that message with them and continue to reflect upon it.
That’s what Milligan is for me. That’s what it tries to do for all its
students.
-
Milligan gave me the
confidence that I would be a success in life because the professors taught
me to think for myself and fostered a spirit that life is an ongoing
education that does not stop with the degree. Milligan gave me a broad
base of preparedness to face the world and I am forever grateful.
