MY STORY
My advice.
Get
involved in the community on campus. It's something I'm passionate about and
devote a lot of time and energy to it. I've built some strong friendships
with students and faculty. And the administration have been open and
welcoming, too, like Bill Greer (VP for Advancement), who's the SGA advisor,
and Don and Clarinda (President & his wife). I don't feel like I'm just a
student attending college but I'm part of a community, building friendships
and relationships that I know will last far beyond my four years at
Milligan.
Med-school.
I want
to go to medical school and pursue a surgical field in either trauma or
cardio-thoracic surgery. I've worked on a ski patrol near here in the
winters and like the fast paced environment. I think I'll like that in the
hospitals as well. I know I'll be well-prepared for med-school when I leave
Milligan. I've had a lot of personalized attention and teaching, which is
something you can't get at larger schools. We also have a human anatomy lab,
which is something that Milligan offers that not many other schools in the
nation do.
Dedication.
Milligan's mission has helped me see that a physician serves as a leader in
the community. It's important to build good character and Christian values.
Milligan stands behind and helps promote that. The faculty and staff are
well-tuned into the process of getting you where you need to be. They have a
dedication to us as students and are very supportive. Dr. Junker and Dr.
Lura have both been there for me. Even when times occasionally get tough,
they're always there to support me. The one-to-one faculty and student
mentoring -- that's something you can get at Milligan that you don't get at
a big school. My three years have been
fantastic!
