MY STORY

Why I chose Milligan.

I chose to attend Milligan because they had quality Bible and Psychology programs, a wide variety of electives to chose from, had a number of activities to be involved in on campus, and was able to provide the financial aid I needed to attend.

My Milligan experience.

I have had many great opportunities while at Milligan. Some highlights of my Milligan experience have been singing and traveling with Milligan's concert choir, being a class representative for our Student Government Organization, traveling to the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountains on the biology trip led by Dr. Wallace, and being a resident assistant in Webb Hall.

Scholarship support.

Without the scholarship support of the alumni and friends of Milligan, I would literally be unable to attend Milligan. There are numerous students at Milligan who, like myself, receive some form of financial aid. Milligan made an effort to get me the financial assistance I needed to attend. Milligan offers scholarships and grants which enable students like myself to receive an education here.

God’s calling for my life.

God's calling for my life is to work with people in need and share His love and message of forgiveness to others. As a psychology major and Bible minor, I plan on either getting a job in a human service related field after graduation or going to graduate school.

Unique experiences I've had at Milligan.

I was in Dr. Mills' Cross-Cultural Psychology class last semester and we took a weekend trip to Atlanta. We did a service project to distribute food and supplies to homeless people downtown, visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and attended a service at the church Dr. King pastored. It was an eye opening experience which changed my view of homelessness and taught me more about the work of America's most prominent civil rights leader.

Phonathon.

Working as a caller during Phonathon gives me the opportunity to connect with Milligan alumni and friends and hear their stories. From alumni who graduated decades ago, to those who are more recent, they provide an example for students like myself.
