| Scholarships honoring local leaders awarded to students
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (June 19, 2003) - Honor scholarships named for local Christian leaders were presented by Youth in Ministry (YiM) to five students who wrote essays describing their interest in the YiM program, their understanding of God's vision in their lives, and their spiritual gifts.
The $6,850 in scholarships will help teens attend YiM programs, primarily "The Big Picture," YiM's weeklong summer conference for high school juniors and seniors that will be held on the Milligan campus July 21-26.
During the conference the students will seek answers to tough questions such as, "What will I do with my life?" "What are my gifts and skills?" "Where do I fit in the kingdom of God?" and "Would God call me into full time ministry?"
Youth in Ministry (YiM), a partnership of Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion, is a program that helps teens in the Tri-Cities region and throughout the United States determine their vocational calling in life and decide how they can best minister as a Christian in their careers.
"Every Christian is a minister and has spiritual gifts that can be used in various professions to make a positive impact on the world," said Phyllis Fox, director of YiM. "These scholarships, exemplifying how local leaders live out their faith through their vocation, help teens develop God's vision for their lives."
