Milligan students place
in national photography competition
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 15, 2006) — Seven Milligan College students placed as finalists in the Photographer's Forum 26th Annual College Photography Contest. The top five percent of entries were selected from over 28,000 entries nationally.
Milligan student finalists are: sophomore Micah Antanaitis of Hermitage, Tenn.; senior Kaci Campbell of Elizabethton, Tenn.; senior Adam Farmer of Johnson City, Tenn.; sophomore Andy Frost of Johnson City, Tenn.; junior Melissa Gilleland of Stony Point, N.C.; junior Emily Hand of Anna, Ohio; and senior Cassie Lomison of New Castle, Ind.
Farmer was also presented with an Honorable Mention Award, a prestigious recognition among the finalists.
The students are all enrolled in photography courses at Milligan as part of the college's fine arts program, which offers courses in art, music, photography and theatre arts.
The Photographer's Forum Magazine sponsors two photography contests each year. One for the general public and one for high school and college students. The magazine is published quarterly and includes interviews with master photographers, feature articles on commercial and fine art photography, book reviews, a portfolio section, various photographic information and workshops.
The finalists' work will be published in the 2006 edition of the Best of College Photography Annual, which is scheduled to be published in mid-June.
Milligan students have submitted entries to the contest for the past 10 years.
