Milligan offers career workshop
for recent college graduates

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (June 27, 2006) — Recent college graduates are invited to hone their career and job search skills at a “Jump Start Your Career” workshop on Friday, July 14, at Milligan College. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Derthick Lecture Hall.

Participants will learn about reading the job market, resume and cover letter writing, how to approach employers, interview techniques and dress, negotiating job offers, short and long term investments and financial planning. The workshop is open to all college graduates of any institution.

Beth Young, a 1997 Milligan alumna, will be the main presenter at the workshop. Young began working as an executive recruiter hiring engineers in 1999. Since 2001 she has been the vice president of a recruiting firm, placing candidates in such fields as accounting, information technology, legal, sales, administrative, financial, construction, nursing, engineering, teaching and many others. Young is currently working on her book, How to Get a Job!

Financial advisor Matt Trivett will provide a special session on financial planning. Trivett, a 2001 Milligan graduate, will offer valuable advice about short and long term investments, wise saving practices, life insurance, as well as planning for large purchases.

Both speakers will hold a question and answer session concluding their presentation.

The workshop is sponsored by the Milligan College Center for Calling and Career Exploration (CCCE). Through perusing internships, talking with Milligan faculty, staff and alumni, and exploring the variety of work available, the CCCE assists students in determining how to use their talents and interests in finding a career. The CCCE also assists in job placement and counseling for students and alumni.

The cost for the workshop is $30 and includes registration and lunch. The deadline to register is July 7.
