Wonderful Wednesday will be
a Terrific Tuesday this year
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 10, 2006) — Milligan College’s annual
surprise holiday will take place on a Tuesday this year. Day classes have
been cancelled for Tuesday, April 11, and a variety of social activities
and games have been planned, many beginning tonight.
This traditional “holiday” for the Milligan community, which is not
always on a Wednesday despite the campus holiday’s name, is a college
tradition dating back to the late 1960s. A veil of secrecy surrounds the
exact date and theme of the surprise holiday each year. Activities are
planned by Social Affairs and the Student Government Association.
“Terrific Tuesday” this year has an Egyptian theme. The event will begin
Monday night, April 10, with a picnic dinner, movie, and dodgeball
tournament. Evening classes on Monday and Tuesday will meet as scheduled.
Tuesday morning will begin with a brunch in the cafeteria, followed by
games on the soccer field and the annual Race the Bells. Ultimate frisbee
and volleyball tournaments will take place throughout the afternoon, as
well as the traditional waterslide and tug of war at Buffalo Creek, and a
student vs. faculty softball game.
At
1:00, the Lady Buffs softball team will take on the University of Virginia
at Wise, followed by the men’s baseball team opposing Virginia Intermont
at 3:00, both at Anglin Field. The day will culminate with dinner in the
cafeteria.
