Milligan College Jazz Ensemble Concert

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 17, 2003) — The Milligan College Jazz ensemble will present its Fall Concert on Monday, November 24, at 7:30p.m. in Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College.

The 24 piece ensemble features several students as well as musicians from the area.

“I feel very fortunate that we also have these other fantastic musicians in our area who want to contribute to the group,” said director Rick Simerly, associate professor of music at Milligan.

Simerly promises an exciting program, including music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Theolonius Monk and others, as well as guest trumpet artist Rich Willey.

Willey is a former member of the Maynard Ferguson Band and has recorded and toured extensively with vocalist, Mel Tormé. Willey has composed several ensemble books and has recorded two albums as a band leader.

The concert is free and open to the pubic. For more information, call the Music Department at 423-461-8723.
