Milligan Jazz Ensemble to perform

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 20, 2001)- The Milligan College Jazz Ensemble will perform a fall concert on Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. in Seeger Chapel on the college's campus.

The 19-piece organization is under the direction on Milligan College music professor, Rick Simerly.

"The ensemble serves as an outlet for Milligan students, other area college and high students, as well as adults who have a desire to play and perform jazz," said Simerly, "This ensemble serves as one of Milligan's outreach programs to the region and community."

The jazz ensemble will perform music and improvisation from the bands of Stan Kenton, Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Bob Mintzer, and many others. Music selections will cover various styles of jazz including swing, rock, Latin and ballads.
