Master of Education

Advanced Program

Are you a current teacher looking for professional development? Milligan's M.Ed. Advanced program can help you add endorsement areas or prepare for board certification.

Quality Curriculum

The advanced program integrates theory, action research, and reflective practice and is designed to increase both the quality and quantity of the educational experiences for teachers in professional education. Student outcomes are based on the National Board for Professional Teacher Standards (NBPTS), and participation in the program can help prepare students for board certification.

The 36-hour program consists of a 24-credit hour core and 12 elective credits. Courses such as Professional Teacher Standards, Assessment and Evaluation, and Classroom Management are part of a core of classes designed to further develop and enhance your classroom skills.

Endorsement Areas

The 12 elective hours can be used to tailor the program to your interests by choosing courses that appeal to you personally or to add-on another endorsement. Milligan offers endorsements in PreK-3, PreK-3 Special Education, K-6, 4-8 Middle Grades, 7-12 Secondary, and K-12 art, music, theatre, French, Spanish, and physical education. Some add-ons may require more than 12 elective credits. Click here for a schedule chart of programs. Also see the Catalog for curriculum details.
