MARIETTA, GA (November 12, 2005)---The Milligan College Lady Buffs Basketball team lost an out of conference match up Saturday afternoon against Shorter College 64-58. The game was the second for the Lady Buffs in the Southern Polytechnic State University Classic. With the loss the Lady Buffs fall to 2-2 on the year.

Milligan trailed 6-0 early but regrouped and pulled together to cut the lead to only two points at halftime. The Lady Buffs started the second half with a 6-0 run of their own taking a 31-27 lead. Milligan’s largest lead late in the game was at 41-37. The game continued back and forth but key free throw shooting by Shorter would secure their victory as they hit 19 of 22 free throws in the game.

Senior Leah Seevers (Glouster, OH) led the Lady Buffs in scoring with 17 points, Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) added 15, and Kari Stout (Hampton, Tenn.) added 10. The Lady Buffs also forced 23 turnovers in the ballgame as a team.

Milligan will open Appalachian Athletic Conference play next Sat. Nov. 19, at Union (Ky.) College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Barboursville, Ky.
