MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN
(December 2, 2005) --- The Milligan College Buffaloes basketball
team suffered a 68-54 home defeat against Virginia Intermont
College, Friday evening in Appalachian Athletic Conference
action. The Buffaloes now stand at 2-5 overall and 0-4 in AAC
action while Virginia Intermont is now at 2-6 overall and 2-3 in
the AAC.
Milligan’s junior
forward Tony Brogan
(Tazewell, Tenn.) tied the game at 15-15 half way though the
first half with a 15 foot jump shot.
Back to back three
point baskets from guards
Tino Washington (Lexington, Ky.) and
Joe Brown
(Blountville, Tenn.) put Milligan in front 21-19 with nine
minutes to play in the opening half.
Virginia Intermont
pulled way late in the half to establish a 32-26 halftime lead.
The Cobras started
the second half with a 13-2 run, which put VI in front 45-28.
The run was stopped by a three point basket from Brown with
12:15 left in the contest which made the score 45-31. Virginia
Intermont eventually led by as many as 19 points in the later
stages of the contest.
The leading scorer
for the Buffs was junior
Adrian Harrison (Greensboro, N.C.) with 11 points and
he grabbed nine rebounds. Guards
Zach Dezarn
(Franklin, Ohio) and Josh
Terry (Jonesville, Va.) each scored nine points for
Milligan.
Virginia Intermont
was led by Juan Ornelas and Jason Southworth with 12 points
each. DeShon Moore added 11 points for the Cobras.
The Buffaloes will
host Ohio University-Chillicothe on Sunday, December 4. The tip
off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Milligan’s next AAC game is Tuesday, December 6 as the Buffs
will host Bluefield (Va.) College. The game is scheduled at 7:30
p.m., after the Milligan Lady Buffs and Bluefield Lady Rams’
5:30 p.m. contest.
