BARBOURVILLE, KY (November 19, 2005)---
Sophomore Jerrod Gibbons poured in a career-high 28 points as Union
College posted a 95-79 Appalachian Athletic Conference men's basketball
victory over visiting Milligan (Tenn.) College on Saturday.
Hitting 51.4 percent (18 of 35 shots)
from the field, including 47.1 percent (8 of 17) from 3-point range,
Union College dominated the first half in grabbing a 55-29 halftime
lead. Milligan fought back in the second half, outscoring Union 50-40
during the final 20 minutes. But it was too little, too late as Union
posted the 95-79 victory.
Gibbons scored 22 of his game-high 28 in
the first half as he hit nine of 14 shots and was four of seven from
3-point range. Chris Stunson added 18 points and six assists, while Joe
Bramlage chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. Micah Cavender helped
out with nine points, eight rebound and five blocked shots.
For Milligan Adrian Harrison
(Greensboro, N.C.) led the way with 19 points. Zach Dezarn
(Franklin, Ohio) scored 18 with Noah Newman (Rock Springs, Wy.)
netting 10.
Milligan falls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in
the AAC with the loss. Union improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the
conference.
The Buffs will return to action on
Tuesday, Nov. 22, in Athens, Tenn. versus Tennessee Wesleyan College.
That game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
