Buffs Basketball wins home opener against Johnson Bible

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 7, 2005) --- The Milligan College Buffaloes men’s basketball team defeated Johnson Bible (Tenn.) College by the score of 91-78 Monday evening at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse in Milligan’s home opener. Milligan improves to 1-1 while Johnson Bible College now stands at 2-2.

The Buffs took a 48-44 lead to the halftime break as the Buffs’ freshman guard Tino Washington (Lexington, Ky.) scored nine points in the half.

Johnson Bible College took a 53-52 lead, with 15:29 left in the game, with a three point basket from Josh Haltom.

The Buffs regained the lead 56-55 two minutes later with a jumper from 13 feet by Josh Terry (Jonesville, Va.) Milligan extended the lead out to 11 points when Joe Brown nailed a basket with just under nine minutes left. Johnson Bible could not close the gap, as Milligan pulled away for the 91-78 victory.

Adrian Harrison (Greensboro, N.C.) scored 16 points to go along with his game high ten rebounds for a double-double for the Buffs. Tino Washington also added 16 points in the victory. Harrison also grabbed a game high ten rebounds. Milligan’s Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio), Noah Newman (Rock Springs, Wyo.) and Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) all scored in double digits with 15, 14 and 12 points respectively.

Johnson Bible was led by Justin Hayse with a game high 21 points, and was closely followed by Joel Cogdell and Clint Sharp with 18 points each.

The Buffs will host Temple Baptist University Thursday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
