MILLIGAN
COLLEGE, TN (December 6, 2005) --- The Milligan College
Buffaloes basketball team, behind a 19 point performance from
freshman Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) defeated Bluefield
(Va.) College 93-81 Tuesday evening at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The win, Milligan’s first in the Appalachian Athletic
Conference, puts the Buffs at 4-5 overall and 1-4 in the AAC
while Bluefield now stands at 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the
conference.
Milligan,
behind strong first half performances of ten points apiece from
Yony Kifle (Alexandria, Va.) and Adrian Harrison
(Greensboro, N.C.).
Kifle would
end the game with 13 points while Harrison finished with 14.
Going into
halftime with a five point lead, up 48-43, gave the Buffs the
confidence they needed to seal the win.
“Going into
halftime, we knew we could execute,” said Kifle. “We had the
momentum and were willing to do whatever we could to win.”
Milligan also
had double-digit scoring performances from Zach Dezarn
(Franklin, Ohio), and Seth Jervis (Kingsport, Tenn.).
Next for
Milligan is another home AAC contest as the Buffs will host the
University of Virginia-Wise on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m.
