Kings Star Signs with Milligan College

Milligan College, TN (June 30, 2003) - John Walters, a 6'5, 215lb. senior at Kings High School in King Mill, Ohio, has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn. and play basketball for the Buffs. Milligan head coach Tony Wallingford made the announcement.

Walters led the Fort Ancient Valley Conference in scoring this past season with an impressive 20.1 points per game average. He also grabbed 9 rebounds and shot 56% from the field for Coach Brent Allen while leading the Kings to a 16-4 record and the FAVC Championship. He is a two-time all-conference, all-county, all district 15, and honorable mention SW Ohio selection. As a senior, he was selected to play in the Cincinnati Area East-West All-Star game.

Milligan College coach Tony Wallingford is excited to have Walters join his program.

"We are very pleased to be able to sign a player of John's caliber this late in the recruiting season. He's a real steal for us. At a power forward position, we were obviously impressed with his ability to score and rebound. We liked his work habits and his ability to run the floor. He has shown steady improvement over the last three years in all phases of his game and with added strength to his already solid frame, we feel he has great upside," Wallingford concluded.

Wallingford learned of Walters from two friends that are members of the Little Miami High School staff, Gary Wirsch and assistant coach Lawain McNeil. Both Wirsch and McNeil felt like Walters was an outstanding prospect that was simply getting overlooked.

Walters will begin classes at Milligan in August and plans to major in Business. He is the son of Anthony and Theresa Walters of Morrow, Ohio.
