Buffs run best times on day two of Sea Ray Relays

On day two of the University of Tennessee's Sea Ray Relays, Milligan College senior Ryan Starr (Bartlesville, OK) dropped more than a half-minute from his 5000 meter best to earn his tenth trip to an NAIA National Championships event. His time of 15:15.20 was just under the qualifying standard of 15:16.20, giving him a berth to the Outdoor Championships held in Olathe, KS on May 22-24.

Also earning lifetime bests in the men's 1500 meters on Friday were freshman Chris Wright (Baltimore, MD) and sophomore Trevor Donovan (Pittsford, NY). Running in the third heat, Wright lowered his metric mile best to 4:01, more than 7 seconds faster than his previous personal record outdoors. Donovan, running in heat four, crossed the line in 4.03, an 8 second improvement in this event.

Former Milligan College All-American Philip Rotich finished 3rd in the men's invitational 800 meters with an outstanding season-opening time of 1:48.46 in a field which included many of the NCAA's two-lap stars.

The Buffs will travel next to Blacksburg, VA for a meet with the Virginia Tech Hokies on April 26th.
