Milligan splits with Virginia Intrermont

Bristol, VA—Virginia Intermont took advantage of some miscue to defeat Milligan 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. Milligan salvage the split with a 7-2 victory in the second game. Milligan falls to 14-8 and 11-3 in the conference

.Game 1
The Lady Cobras scored two runs in the second and third inning to run away with the victory. Aneesha Sheffield scattered six hits and allowed three runs to pick up the victory for the Lady Cobras.

Shelby Banion and Danielle Gilley each had a double and scored a run for the Lady Buffs. Ashley Fine singled and also scored for the Lady Buffs.

Brandy Waddle pitched six innings for the loss. She falls to 9-7 on the season. She struck out two while allowing nine hits.

Game 2
Milligan uses 11 hits and seven runs to defeat VI 7-2. Jenny Trompower led the way for the Lady Buffs going 3 for 4. Sarah Steele came up with a clutch single knocking in two runs to help clinch the victory for the Lady Buffs. Shelby Banion and Carissa Ellis each had two hits.

Ashley Fine worked the first three innings on the mound to pick up the victory. She improves to 5-0 on the season. She injury her ankle sliding into home plate and had to come out the game after the third inning. Waddle finished the game for her second save of the season.

Milligan will host Tusculum College on Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
