Buffs beat Brevard in squeaker

Andrea Henriott’s ground ball scored Brandy Waddle with the winning run as Milligan defeated Brevard 7-6 in nine innings in an Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament loser’s bracket game Friday in Athens.

Waddle also picked up the win on the mound to improve to 21-15.

The Buffs (26-16) blew an 8-1 lead en route to a 9-8 loss late Wednesday night to reach the loser’s bracket against Virginia-Wise, which reached the winner’s bracket final with Tennessee Wesleyan.

Milligan was playing the loser’s bracket semifinal at press time for an NAIA Region XII berth, as UVa-Wise and Wesleyan clinched the two berths during the regular season.
