Milligan slams Montreat

Montreat, NC—The injury bug has hit Milligan for the third time this season but that did not stop the Lady Buffs scoring 29 runs and picking up 32 hits against Montreat College. Milligan won the doubleheader 12-2 and 17-7 to run its record to 19-11 and 16-4.

Already playing without starting first basemen Brooke Davis and outfielder/pitcher Ashley Fine, Milligan’s three-time all-conference shortstop Andrea Henriott went down with a severe sprain ankle. X-rays showed no break but a time table has not been set for her return.

Game 1
Milligan jumped on Montreat early and didn’t stop until scoring 12 runs. Carissa Ellis led the charge with three hits. Shelby Banion and Alyson Bowman each went 2 for 3 for the Lady Buffs. Jenny Trompower had two hits including a run scoring double. Shannon Musgrave also had a double for the Lady Buffs.

Brandy Waddle pick up her league-leading 13 win of the season.

Danielle Gilley went 2 for 3 and Bowman picked up two more hits for the Lady Buffs.
Milligan will host Brevard College tomorrow at 1:00 PM before traveling to Wise to face the Lady Cavs on Sunday.
