Banion leads Milligan, past Bluefield

Milligan College, TN-Milligan jumps all over Bluefield to sweep a doubleheader to improve to 16-10 and and 13-3 in the conference.

Game 1
Shelby Banion knocks in four runs with two triple to help Milligan beat Bluefield, 9-1. Her first triple knocked in Andrea Henriott to put the Buffs up 3-0. Her second triple cleared the bases in the fourth inning knocking in three runs to put the game away. Banion also scored two runs. Danielle Gilley helped pace the Lady Buffs going 2 for 3 with a run scored and RBI. Carissa Ellis scored two runs for the Lady Buffs.

Brandy Waddle picked up her 10th win of the season working the first three innings. She struck out six of the 10 batters she faced. She walked one and didn't allow a hit. Banion pitched two innings giving up one run and two hits. The lone Bluefield run scored on a wild pitch from Banion in the fifth inning.

Game 2
Milligan took advantage of wild pitching from Bluefield scoring nine runs on only four hits. Milligan walked 10 times and got hit three other times. Rebecca Dawson had two of the four hits for Milligan.

Rebecca Gilley was 1 for 2 with a double.

Brandy Waddle pitched two innings for her second win of the day and her 11th of the season. She improves to 11-9 on the season. She retired all six batters she faced striking out three. Courtney Ruth pitched the remaining three innings for the Lady Buffs. She allowed one hit and one run.

Milligan will travel to Union on Saturday for a doubleheader. They beat Union twice earlier in the season. The scores were 5-0 and 8-0.
