Roane State's Coggins Signs with Milligan College

Milligan College, TN-- Eric Coggins, a 5'10 standout guard, for Roane State Community College, has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College and play basketball for the Buffs. Milligan College head coach Tony Wallingford made the announcement.

Coggins is the all time leader at Roane State in 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage. In both seasons at Roane State, he led the Tennessee Junior College Athletic Association in 3 point field goal percentage and 3-pointers made. He was recently selected to play in the Tennessee-Kentucky Junior College all-star game in Nashville. Coggins averaged 15 points per game as a freshman and 12 points per game as a sophomore for Coach Randy Nesbit at RSCC.

Coggins had a phenomenal career at Cosby High School before entering Roane State. At Cosby, he averaged 33 points per game as a senior and was named All-State, All-East Tennessee, and all-conference. Coggins is the 2nd all time leading scorer in Cosby High School history and ranks 2nd all time in 3 point field goal percentage in the state of Tennessee. He helped Cosby to three straight trips to the state tourney (class A), twice finishing as state runner-up. In his last two seasons at Cosby, playing for head coach Manny Moore and assistant coach Richard Coggins, Coggins led his team to an impressive 60-12 record.

Milligan head coach Tony Wallingford is excited to have Coggins join the Buffs. "One of our recruiting priorities was to strengthen our outside shooting. Without question, Eric Coggins will fill that need for us next season. Eric is strong, versatile and obviously, a pure shooter. We were disappointed when we didn't get him here out of high school, but we're certainly excited about this second opportunity to have him with us now," Wallingford concluded.

Coggins plans a major in Human Performance and Exercise Science and would like to certify to teach while at Milligan.
