Golf team finishes fourth at LMU Spring Invitational

Jonesville, VA-Blake Stewart led Milligan to a fourth place finish in the LMU Spring Invitational. He shot a pair of 75 to finished eighth in the two-day event. Forty-three golfers from nine schools played in the tournament.

Milligan finished with two-round score of 636. They shot 319 on the first day and improved by two stokes shooting a 317 on day two. Milligan was the only team to improve on day two of the tournament.

The format of the tournament was five golfers play and the top four scores from each day were counted.

Lincoln Memorial won the tournament by shooting a 591. Wayne St. finished second with a 607.

Milligan defeated two AAC schools and tied with Union College. Milligan can use this good showing later on in the season at the AAC/Region XII Championships hosted by Milligan College at Cattails at Meadowview in Kingsport, TN. That tournament is scheduled for April 13-15.

Nelson Caudill finished tied for 24th with a 162. He shot an 80 and 82. Jesse Boyd made a big move on day two shooting a 79. He finished tied for 26th with 163.

Todd Munsey finished one stoke behind Boyd at 164. Milligan use his first day scored of 80.

Michael Morrell finished 33rd but shot an 81 on day two to help Milligan finish in fourth place.
