Milligan takes two from Wise
Milligan College, TN—Milligan need two win to
remain in the race for second place in the AAC. They got them beating
Wise 9-1 and 8-6 to improve to 26-17 and 14-7 in the conference.
Game 1
The bats were quiet for four innings, but the bats woke up in the
fifth inning scoring five runs to run past Wise 9-1.
Milligan banged out 13 hits and used a costly error for their nine
runs in the final three innings.
Ben Whittemore went 3 for 3 with his first homerun of the season.
He finished the game with two RBI’s for the Buffs.
Freshmen David Rusaw went 3 for 4 including two doubles and two
RBI’s.
Nathan Meade picked up two more hits in five at-bats and two more
RBI’s for the Buffs.
Dustin Barrett worked the first five innings to pick up his sixth
win of the season. He improves to 6-3. He allowed five hits and
only one unearned run. Chad Davis tossed the final two innings allowing
two hits and no runs.

Game 2-
Milligan cruised through the first 4 innings building a 5-0 lead
and Matt Simmons was perfect retiring the first 12 he faced. . Wise
woke up scoring 5 runs in the fifth inning and tying the game at
5.
The Buffaloes regained the lead when Ben Whittemore hit a clutch
two out double scoring Nathan Meade and Dustin Price. The Buffs
added another run when David Rusaw singled in Whittemore giving
them the lead for good. The Cavs scored one run in the bottom of
the 7th, but Chris Shockley closed the door giving Milligan an 8-6
victory. Simmons improves to 8-1 and while Shockley earned his first
save of the season.
Milligan will travel to Union College on Friday
to start a three-games series against the Bulldogs.
