Milligan knocks off Southern Wesleyan

Central, SC--Milligan jumps out to a 9-0 lead and holds on to defeat Southern Wesleyan 9-6. Matt Simmons pitched seven innings to pick up his third win of the season. He improves to 3-1 on the season and lowers his ERA to 1.54. He allowed one run in seven innings.

Southern Wesleyan made the game close scoring five runs with no out in the ninth, but Brad Zachritz relieved Nathan Chander to pick the save for the Buffs.

Scott Shealy led the way for the Buffs going 4 for 5 with two RBI’s. Jesse Dannemiller also had a big day for the Buffs going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Freshman David Rusaw, playing with an injury ankle, knocked in three runs with two hits for the Buffs.

Milligan improves to 8-5, while Southern Wesleyan falls to 6-16.

Milligan travels to North Georgia on Wednesday before returning home to host Mars Hill on Thursday.
