Milligan splits with Carson Newman
Milligan College, TN-Milligan scores one in the sixth and one in the seventh to beat Carson Newman in the nightcap 9-8. Carson Newman won the first game 5-3 in afternoon baseball action.

Game 1
Carson Newman scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and held on to a 5-3 victory.

Nick Jacobs walked with the bases loaded to score Bret Lindsey, who led the inning off with a single to put the Eagles ahead, 4-3. Bryce Thomas knocked in the Ricky Luttrell with an infield groundball to give the Eagles a two run advantage.

Brandon Wright tossed a complete game for the Eagles. He scattered eight hits in seven innings. He struck out two and walked one for his third victory of the season. He improves to 3-3 on the season.
David Rusaw led the charge for the Buffs. He went 2 for 4 with a double, run scored and a RBI. Scott Shealy picked up two more hits in four at-bats.

Nathan Meade had a clutch single scoring Nathan Chandler with two out in the second inning to tie the game at one.

Ryan Dunn singled and scored in the fourth inning to tie the game at three.

Jacob McAllister worked the four innings allowing three runs and three hits for a no-decision. Chris Shockley tossed 2.1 innings to pick up the loss for the Buffs. He allowed the two sixth inning runs. He falls to 0-3 on the season. Ben Whittemore worked out of a jam in the seventh inning to finish the game.

Milligan out-hit the Eagles 8 to 6 but couldn't get the big hit late in the game.

Game 2
Jason Torres was hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score Nathan Meade with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Milligan fell behind, 8-3 but came roaring back scoring four runs in the fourth and single runs in the sixth and seventh to pull out a split with Carson Newman.

Scott Shealy tied the game in the sixth with his seventh homerun of the season. He finished the game going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. His first inning triple was his 250th hit as a member of the Buffs. He broke the all-time hits record last season with 194.

David Rusaw went 2 for 3 with three RBI's.

Rob Maynard (1-1) worked the final three innings to pickup his first win of the season. He allowed no hits and no runs for the Buffs.

Milligan will host Tennessee Wesleyan this weekend. They will open the series on Friday with a single game at 2:00 PM. The series will conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1:00 PM.
