Milligan sweeps Alice Lloyd

Milligan College, TN-Milligan uses good hitting and solid pitching to sweep Alice Lloyd 9-2 and 9-5 in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. With the two wins, Milligan improved to 22-14 and 11-5 in the conference. The two teams will conclude the three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM.

Game 1
Dustin Barrett worked the first five innings to pick up his fifth win of the season. He improves to 5-3. He allowed three hits and two runs. He stuck out three and walked three.

Jacob McAllister pitched the sixth inning getting three groundballs out. Chad Davis worked a scoreless seventh for the Buffs.

Brad Hitch led the charge for the Buffs going 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI’s. His second inning double put Milligan ahead for the first time, 2-1. Nathan Meade had two more hits and two RBI’s.

Dustin Price went 2 for 4 with a run scoring double. Ben Whittemore knocked in two more runs with two hits. The two RBI’s brings his total to 35 on the season. Nathan Chandler had two doubles in three at-bats.

Game 2
Milligan jumps at to a 9-1 lead after the third inning and held on to 9-5 victory in the nightcap.

Matt Simmons improves to 7-1 on the season. He worked four innings allowing one run on five hits. He struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.

Milligan started the game with a Scott Shealy triple, followed by Nathan Meade double, and a Dustin Price double to jump out to 3-0 lead.

Shealy went 3 for 4 with two RBI’s. Shealy is hitting .398 with 35 runs scored and 28 RBI’s for the Buffs.
Meade had two hits giving him eight hits in his last ten at-bats for the Buffs. He is hitting .375 (33 for 88) with 19 runs scored and 19 RBI’s.

Price finished the game with two hits and a run scored to raise his season average to .345.

Milligan will send Todd Speas to the mound tomorrow trying for the three-game sweep of Alice Lloyd.
