Milligan college women’s
tennis team defeated
Appalachian Athletic
Conference (AAC)
opponent Virginia
Intermont with a score
of 9-0. The victory will
bring the Lady Buffs’
record to 5-6 overall,
3-1 in conference play.
The Lady Cobras of
Virginia Intermont,
however, hold record of
0-9 overall, 0-6 AAC.
In doubles play, the
Milligan pair of
Melissa Grgat
(Melbourne, Australia)
and Krissi Denton
(Bristol, Tenn.) would
take the No. 1 match by
a score of 8-3.
Following suit, Sara
Hopson (Greeneville,
Tenn.) and Janie
Mullins (Greenville,
Ala.) won the No. 2
match, 8-1. Completing
the sweep in doubles
play were Myra O’Dell
(Kingsport, Tenn.) and
Laura Bowman
(Elizabethton, Tenn.),
winning the No. 3 match,
8-2.
Grgat defeated Anna
Blome of Virginia
Intermont to win the No.
1 singles match.
Milligan would continue
to dominate in singles
play, bringing the final
score of the day to 9-0,
in favor of the Lady
Buffs.
Milligan’s men and
women’s tennis teams
will travel to Athens,
Tenn., on April 14 to
take on another AAC
opponent, Tennessee
Wesleyan College. Game
time will be 1 p.m.
