Lady Buffs fall at Union in AAC tennis

BARBOURVILLE, KY (March 21, 2007) --- The Milligan College women’s tennis team opened up their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) schedule on Wednesday in Barbourville, Ky., with 6-3 loss to Union College.

The win improved the Lady Bulldogs' record to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in league play, while Milligan dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the AAC.

Yeris Varges and Katie Sakalauskas each had a good day. First, the two teamed up to defeat Melissa Grgat (Melbourne, Australia) and Krissi Denton (Bristol, Tenn.) 9-7 in doubles play. Then, Varges cruised past Denton in singles play winning 6-1, 6-0, while Sakalauskas blanked Amber Campbell 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Buffs will return to action on Saturday, March 24, against Southern Va. University at 12 p.m. at home.
