BRISTOL, VA (January 23, 2007) --- The Milligan College women’s
basketball team defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)
rival, Virginia Intermont College by a score of 68-61 on Tuesday
night in Bristol, Va.
Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) led the way with a game-high 17
points, while Kara Monk (Harriman, Tenn.) added 10 points and
Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) had a well rounded game
with eight points, a game-high seven rebounds, two blocks and three
steals.
The Lady Buffs shot an impressive 24-for-44 from the field (54
percent) while holding V.I. to just 23-for-51 (45 percent) including
a dismal one-for-13 performance from three point range. Milligan
also shot 15-for-20 (75 percent) from the charity stripe to solidify
the win.
Milligan improves to 11-9 overall and 6-5 in the AAC with the
victory.
Tennessee Temple University will visit the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on
Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. for the Lady Buffs’ next match up.
