PIKEVILLE, KY (January 2, 2007) --- The Milligan
College women’s basketball returned to action
after a 16-day layoff with a 77-69 win at
Pikeville (Ky.) College Tuesday evening. With
the win, the Lady Buffs improve to 5-6 overall
while Pikeville drops to 4-11.
Leading the charge for the Lady Buffs was senior
Kacie
Letterman (Gray, Tenn.) with her 13
points while freshman
Brit White
(Chuckey, Tenn.) added 11 points. Sophomore
Rikki Baughman
(Elizabethton, Tenn.) only scored seven points
against Pikeville, but she grabbed a career-high
17 rebounds and blocked two shots.
Forwards
Candace Shelton (Flag Pond, Tenn.)
and Leah
Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) scored 10
and 9 points respectively in the win.
Milligan overcame a 34-33 halftime deficit and
pulled away for the eight point win to start
2007.
The Lady Buffs will resume their Appalachian
Athletic Conference (AAC) campaign with a road
contest against No. 12 Bryan (Tenn.) College
(11-4, 4-0 AAC) Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Milligan
is currently tied for fourth in the conference
with a 2-2 record.
