DAYTON,
TN (January 4, 2007) --- The Milligan
College women’s basketball team suffered a
77-65 loss Thursday evening at the hands of
No. 12 Bryan College. The Appalachian
Athletic Conference (AAC) game was played at
Bryan, in Dayton, Tenn.
This was the first AAC contest for Milligan
since December 8 and Bryan played their last
conference game on December 9. With the
results, Milligan now holds a 5-7 overall
record and a 2-3 conference record while
Bryan moves to 5-0 within the conference and
12-4 overall.
Bryan
jumped in front of Milligan 27-2 over the
first ten minutes of the contest and the
Lady Buffs battled back over the last part
of the half to go into halftime trailing
38-20.
Milligan continued to fight back and closed
the deficit down to ten points in the later
stages of the second half only to see Bryan
hold on for the conference win. In the
second half, Milligan was 15-of-31 (48.4
percent) from the field and outscored Bryan
45-39 in the half.
Sophomores
Rikki
Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.)
and Leah
Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) each
scored a team-high 17 points for Milligan
Thursday night. Anderson also grabbed a
game-high 11 rebounds while
Kara Monk
(Harriman, Tenn.) added 12 points off the
bench in the contest.
Brittany Swanson poured in a game-high 21
points for Bryan.
The Lady Buffs will return to action
Saturday afternoon at Covenant College in
Lookout Mountain, Ga. The AAC match up is
scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m.
