MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 11, 2007) ---
The
Milligan College men's and women's track and
field teams traveled a limited squad to the
second stop in the Nashville Twilight Track and
Field Series saturday hosted by TNRunning.com.
The
event was held on the fast mondo track on the
campus of Vanderbilt University.
Junior MacKenzie LaBonte (Port
Charlotte, Fla.) battled the humidity to lead
the way for the Lady Buffs with a win in the
5000 meters with a time of 17:51, while
sophomore Jacklyn Talbert (Mt.
Carmel, Tenn.) recorded a lifetime best of 4:39
in the 1,500 meters.
Both
LaBonte and Talbert currently rank Top 15
nationally in the 1,500 meters, while LaBonte
ranks 13th nationally in the 5,000 meters.
In
the men's 800 meters, senior Jair Collie
(Johnson City, Tenn.) closed out his collegiate
campaign with a lifetime best time of 1:56.
The
Lady Buffs, will travel five women to the NAIA
Outdoor Track and Field National Championships
held May 24-26 on the campus of Fresno Pacific
University in Fresno, Calif. Erika Fox
(Gambrills, Md.), Nicole Moore
(Boise, Idaho) and Emily Schmitt
(Avon, Ind.) will compete in the women's
marathon. Talbert and LaBonte will both compete
in the women's 1,500 meters.
