MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 1, 2007) --- Milligan College head cross country and track coach Chris Layne announced Michael Kaal of Gilbert High School, in Gilbert, Ariz., will compete for Milligan College next fall.

Kaal will run both cross country and track for the Buffs.

Kaal was an Arizona State Championship qualifier in both track and cross country with personal bests of 2:01 for 800 meters and 16:05 for 5,000 meter in cross country. He also captained both the track and field and cross country teams his senior season.

"Michael shows he has range on the track and he’ll definitely bolster our men’s roster next season in both cross and track," said Layne.

The son of Peter and Julie Kaal, Michael plans to major in photography while at Milligan. His father was a sub-four minute mile runner while at Oklahoma State University.  

Kaal, a youth leader at his church, wants to become a professional photographer and also enjoys fishing.
