2007) --- Milligan College
sophomore
Jacklyn Talbert (Mt.
Carmel, Tenn.) broke the
Milligan record in the 1,500
meters at the Duke Invitational
Friday night and also reached
the automatic qualifying
standard for NAIA Outdoor Track
& Field National Championships
with her time of 4:42.39.
Talbert's time betters the
previous mark set by
MacKenzie LaBonte
(Port Charlotte, Fla.) at last
week’s Milligan Relays.
LaBonte, a junior, debuted in
the 5,000 meters at Wallace Wade
Stadium, and also reached the
automatic national qualifying
mark with her time of 17:43.97.
Also securing a national
qualifier in the 1,500 meters
was junior
Kortney Goulds
(Johnson City, Tenn.) Goulds ran
a season best time of 4:46.07 to
reach the provisional standard.
Along with junior
Brittany Bales
(Kingsport, Tenn.), Goulds and
Talbert bounced back Saturday
morning to run the heats in the
800 meters. Battling cold
temperatures and high winds,
Talbert finished fourth in her
section with a time of 2:23.15,
Bales finished fifth in her
section with a time of 2:22.81
and Goulds recorded the fastest
time on the day for Milligan's
women with her mark of 2:22.02.
Freshman
Aaron
Wood (Aurora, Colo.)
represented Milligan's men in
the 800 meter and 1,500 meter
run. On Friday, Wood finished
15th of 94 competitors in the
1,500 meters with a new lifetime
best of 4:05.01. On Saturday
morning, Wood doubled back to
finish 15th of 103 competitors
in the 800 meters with a time of
1:58.73.
